The Beenoculus is a Brazilian mobile HMD case with a very bold choice of name. Most people will of course realize that the company has no connection to the makers of the Oculus Rift, but just in case you doubted that fact, you read it here folks.
Getting information from their site can be a little daunting if you aren’t fluent in Portuguese, but thanks to Google Translate we learn that Beenoculus has been around since 2015 and are more than just a maker of a plastic Google Cardboard clone.
Instead, Beenoculus see themselves as more of a content producer who want to bring VR to Brazil. A country that has notoriously low levels of individual wealth. Beenoculus certainly has a solid presence in the Android app store with various games and experiences. If you venture there you’ll find many original and re-branded apps with the Beenoculus logo.
The HMD itself is an attractive yet unremarkable product. You’d have a hard time telling it apart from any of the other multitude of plastic mobile case HMDs out there. Beenoculus doesn’t really tell us too much about the features or technical details of their HMD, but they do take the time to tell us that they want to make branded units for your event or company.
The head straps look like they’ve been taken straight from a pair of ski goggles and visually the quality and design seems quite nice.
