Recomended Not RecomendedNeurogoggles (also referred to as “Mindleap”) is an in-development VR headset that combines some of the most advanced technological sensing and imaging systems that are possible.
On March 4 2015, the company Mindmaze issued a press release announcing that they had received a staggering $8.5 million in angel funding.
This would be put towards developing the Neurogoggles – a brainwave-driven VR system.
The idea is that game developers get access to the neuroscience technology that MindMaze possesses for use in making games that also take advantage of their HMD.
The system is equipped with neural sensors and 3D motion capture cameras. This technology can be used to map real time data to the in-game representation of the player.
The full motion capture systems obviates the need for physical controllers, since it’s all done through scanning technology.
MindMaze’s background is in the medical field and a key application of the Neurogoggles will be neurorehabilitation. This includes helping stroke victims and other patients who have suffered neurological damage.
The system is said to seamlessly switch between VR and AR. The use of neurological monitoring is proposed as a way to increase responsiveness. When you move your arm, the system may even be able to move your virtual body’s limbs before you actual limbs receive the nerve signals from your brain.
Although the Neurogoggles were slated for release in late 2015, finding any information on the product is proving difficult. At the time of writing the official page has been taken down and it’s not clear what the current status of the project is..
