Offers improved durability and a rather beautiful design as its selling point in a sea of Google Cardboard clones.

No matter which way you looks at it, 99% of Google Cardboard clones are basically the same thing. Which means that it can be very difficult for a company making and selling such clones to stand out in any way. Some come up with gimmicks of variable value, but in the case of Powis VR the company isn’t bothered about the fact that this is just another cardboard clone.
Basically they aren’t trying to sell you a hamburger as French cuisine, but they are selling a gourmet hamburger. This is the third version of the company’s Cardboard-like product and the main selling point is that the Powis VR case is made from special materials. The lenses and linings are billed as “superior” by Powis and the three versions come in either leather, eco-friendly material or “designer” material. The other main value proposition of the Powis product is the offer of custom branding, with the exterior printed to match your business livery.
In terms of the actual design, the Powis is pretty attractive, that is unless you happen to get one of the more wacky prints. The Designer version of this HMD has some questionable colour and pattern options. The EcoViewer and Leather versions are probably the least embarrassing models to own.
The noises Powis make around durability seem plausible too. The HMD has no plastic hinges and a reinforced interactive button. It’s also priced pretty well for something that looks expensive. Certainly it seems like a sensible choice compared to much more tatty Cardboard clones that go for nearly the same price.
